Dermatoscope for Christchurch Hospital

Christchurch Rotary is delighted to be able to support the excellent work of the dermatology unit in Christchurch Hospital with the purchase of a Dermatoscope. This is the second instrument purchased by the club, this time with the aid of a central Rotary grant.
The dermatoscope is essentially a skin surface microscope, facilitating the detailed inspection of pigmented skin lesions. It is employed particularly in the diagnosis or exclusion of malignant melanoma, and is in constant use in the dermatology clinics at Christchurch Hospital, benefitting patients from Christchurch and the surrounding catchment area.
The Hospital has expressed particular thanks to Terry Broadfield, Chair of the Club’s Foundation Committee, who inspired and pursued this particular donation.
