Christmas Collection
The Christmas Collection
Thanks to the generosity of Sainsbury’s at Somerford we are permitted to collect monies at the entrance to the store on one Saturday prior to Christmas. We are able to play appropriate Christmas music and the collection is by way of money donations into collecting tins from members of the public entering the store. The entrance is staffed by two Rotarians throughout the day normally working in one hour shifts.
The second part of the Christmas collection is a street collection in Saxon Square and sometimes the High Street over three days. Again Christmas music is played and we have an animated Father Christmas who thrills the children. The collection is by way of money donations from the public into collection tins. To maximise on the fund raising potential a minimum of two Rotarians are required working in one hour shifts throughout the day.
The collection is organised by the Community Service and Vocational Committee and monies raised is used to support Rotary’s general charity fund and the Mayors Christmas Goodwill Fund.
