Swimafun

The date for our 2011 Swimafun is now set for 17th September 2011

This fun event will again be held at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre. Teams of swimmers are invited to enter the event and their objective is to swim as many lengths as they can in a one hour period with each team aiming to raise about £500 for local good causes or charities.

Swimmers swim in relay with only one swimmer from each team permitted in the pool at a time. The teams raise sponsorship from their friends and family either on a per length basis or for a specific total amount.

The money each team raises is split 50% to that teams own chosen charity or good cause and the remaining 50% is donated to the charities the club chooses to sponsor at the event.

There is a specific Rotary Committee that has been set up to run this event and Rotarians and hopefully their partners are needed on the night to marshal the car park and the swimming pool area and to count the lengths that each team member swims.

In 2010 the event raised over £11,000. This was split between the good causes or charities nominated by teams who entered and the three beneficiaries chosen by Rotary which were ShelterBox, End Polio Now and the Salvation Army
